The mission of Hōkū Rising is to provide the surrounding community with needed parent education, early childhood education, life skills, and wellness services for underprivileged children, families, and the community. The program focuses on building leadership, teamwork, and personal growth for youth, while providing enriching summer experiences for younger keiki.
Leadership Development
Hoku Rising’s summer camp empowers teens to lead by planning and running activities for younger children. With guidance, they build confidence, responsibility, and real-world leadership skills.
.
Community Enrichment
Youth take part in hands-on projects like painting and gardening to improve shared spaces, showing them they can create real, visible change in their community.
Lifelong Learning
Teens build everyday life skills through real-world experiences like trips to the grocery store and bank, where they learn budgeting, communication, and responsibility. These activities foster independence and a mindset of continuous learning beyond the classroom.
